Once clinical symptoms appear, rabies is virtually 100% fatal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Rabies Day is the 28th of September<\/strong> and aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans and animals, provide information and advice on preventing the disease in at-risk communities, and support advocacy for increased efforts in rabies control.<\/p>\n<p>What is so special about the 28th of September?<\/p>\n<p>28th September marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur&#8217;s death, the French chemist and microbiologist who developed the first rabies vaccine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What can we do as a community?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support your local SPCA in their efforts.<\/li>\n<li>Vaccinate your fur family ANNUALLY!<\/li>\n<li>Educate your family, teach your kids to interact, and be friendly with animals but to protect themselves.<\/li>\n<li>When helping strays or wildlife, first report to the local authorities.
