Many people have heard about the PETport Mascot, the PETport Granddad, the spokesman for Short Headedness and the Founder of “ABITCHOE – A BRACHYCEPHALIC IS THE CUTEST HOUND ON EARTH”!

We want you to meet our Alfie!

Alfie is our MD’s baby baby, and has been part of the PETport Team for a couple of years, Alf is currently going for surgery at Bergzicht Animal Hospital – Eden on the Bay.

Being an English Bulldog, Alfie has a predisposed tendency to suffer from BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome). Unfortunately the Alf has many of the associated conditions associated to this genetic disorder that snub nose dogs suffer with.

Alfie is currently undergoing an Alarplasty to rectify Stenotic Nares, surgery to correct entropion and a Soft Palate Resection.

Basically a nose job and a facelift shall we say!

Alfies nostrils were pinched closed, his eyelids had inverted both inward and outward causing irritation, and the back of the palette at the back of his mouth had become floppy and “soft” which causes this flap to drop over the airway and make breathing very hard.

The dark circles under Alfie’s eyes are tear stains as a result of the folding inward of the bottom eyelids, causing irritation to the eye itself. Epiphora, a condition that comes from excessive tear production or the inability to properly drain tears, is usually the source of the stains.

Please keep our precious Alfie in your prayers! We know he is in the greatest of hands with Dr Claude today!
